Nokia-7110-02

Nokia 7110

Overall: Quite a nice phone. Despite other reviews, it proved to be reliable and sturdy.

Why I bought this phone: This was unofficially marketed in the UK as the phone in the Matrix film. It isn’t. This is quite clear to see when you see the phones side by side:

matrix.7110.2

Despite this, I still liked the sliding mechanism to reveal the keys (just like the one in the Matrix) and the fact that the keys are hidden when in the pocket.

My previous (first) phone was an Ericsson PF768. I’ve not done a review of this phone as it is that old. This was brought out before Sony had collaborated with Ericsson. Soon after I got this phone, Ericsson brought out the T10 & then the T28.

The common factor though was the keys were covered on both phones yet you could still see the display.

Usability: Very easy. It had a fairly early operating system without icons. It had T9 predictive text and because of the larger screen it had games like Snake. The roller it had helped me a lot. Some reviews did not like it for different reasons but mine was reliable and did its job well. The roller could also be depressed which acted like a select function or left mouse click.

Negatives: I did not experience the negatives mentioned in other reviews such as slider sliding off (very difficult to explain this to your caller as the microphone was in the slider) or the roller not functioning as it should. The only negative for me was that technology moved on so I had to change my phone in order to keep up.
